Seeing a new dentist for the very first time can make some people feel a bit anxious. Fortunately, with Dr. Hoffman you can rest assured that you’re in great hands. In fact, we see multiple generations of patients because Menlo Park residents love him that much!
What to Expect at Your First Visit
During your first appointment, Dr. Hoffman will perform a comprehensive examination, including:
- A thorough review of your medical and dental history
- Signs of pathological or cancerous tissue inside and around the mouth
- Screening for tissue or bone loss associated with periodontal disease
- Health of the teeth
- Bite relationships
- Potential risk factors
- Integrity of current dental restorations
As part of your exam, we also recommend a full mouth series of diagnostic x-rays. These images allow Dr. Hoffman to establish a baseline reading of your oral health and closely monitor changes at future visits. Please arrange approximately one hour for your initial visit with us.
Depending on how healthy your teeth and gums are, we will either arrange for you to have your teeth cleaned or reschedule you for a hygiene appointment shortly thereafter.
New Patient Forms
To save you time, we offer our new patient forms for download. These forms can be filled out ahead of time, and brought with you to your first appointment.
As always, if you have any questions on these forms, please feel free to call our office and we will be happy to assist you!
If You Need Treatment
Should we recommend any treatment, we will review your needs with you so that you can make an educated decision about your course of care. When appropriate, Dr. Hoffman will suggest alternatives that are available, such as dental implants vs. getting a fixed bridge. One of our financial coordinators will be happy to assist you with insurance or payment plan arrangements.
